Vacationing by the sea in Dénia
Located north of the Alicante coast and at the foot of the Montgó Natural Park, we find one of the most beautiful towns in the province, Dénia, a place that we can enjoy at any time of year.
Dénia offers us a beach, cultural heritage, wonderful landscapes and excellent gastronomy, in fact, it was declared in 2015 Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO .
Dénia was one of the Taifa kingdoms in which the Caliphate of Córdoba was divided and a sample of this in its Castle. Underneath, we find a tunnel built during the Spanish Civil War that serves as a passage from the Plaza del Consell to the Ronda las Murallas. You can also visit the Archaeological Museum with remains from the Iberian, Roman, Muslim and Christian eras.
From the upper area of the castle the view of the city and the sea will leave you speechless.
If your fundamental interest is in enjoying the beach, Dénia offers different options. If you are looking for sandy beaches, you have to go to Les Marines, to the north of the city. From north to south are the beaches of Les Deveses, Almadrava, Els Molins, Les Bovetes, Les Marines and Punta del Raset, already in the center of the city.
If your thing is not the big sandy beaches but the small rocky coves, you have to go to the area of Las Rotas, south of the city. After the Marina Dénia marina, after the Marineta Cassiana beach, the area of coves begins, divided into different areas: El Trampolí, Punta Negra, Arenetes and La Cala.
In addition, the entire area of Les Rotes is in the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve where the water is spectacular for snorkeling.
We can also walk through the old fishing district of Dénia, Baix la Mar, getting lost in its picturesque streets to finish in its lively squares of La Creu and San Antonio. Do not forget to see the Playmobil sculpture if you go with children, they will love it.
If the time comes to take a break and eat something, in Dénia you will enjoy a great gastronomic offer with numerous signature food restaurants and a great variety of tapas bars and restaurants in the downtown and port area. If you walk down Calle Loreto, it will be difficult for you to choose.
Before resting you should not miss the sunsets in Dénia . There are different areas, but without a doubt if you walk through La Marina you will be able to choose one of the best scenarios.
